Currently : University of Hawaii Printmaking

The printmaking studio at the University of Hawaii Manoa has always held a special place in my heart. It is where my journey began as an artist and I will never forget it's unique atmosphere; from the sound of the press beds to the smell of the chemicals & inks, it is a place all to familiar to my senses.

I recently had the opportunity to hang out in the studio and talk with some of the current BFA cannidates in Printmaking. Check out their show coming up; PAUSE: Bachelor of Fine arts Exhibition 2014.

Studio Visit : Kenny Lui

Kenny Lui is currently in the BFA program at the University of Hawaii Manoa where he spends most of his time in the studio creating work that is a product of his deep inner emotions. The process is as painful as his emotions are; he uses oil pastels and forces them into the canvas to create a rich textural surface. The final outcome embodies his deepest most intimate feelings focused unto a canvas for the world to see.

I visited Kenny in his studio over the past month too hang out and document his process. He is at his studio almost everyday and spends late nights working on his canvas or brainstorming ideas there. Here are a few shots of Kenny in his natural environment...
